Caramel Hot Chocolate Cake | Nestle at Dollar General

My kids love to help me in the kitchen. We haven’t really had time to do any holiday baking so I thought it was time to throw on the santa hats and get something festive in the oven. Drinking hot chocolate is one of their absolute favorite things about the holiday season. We have tried hot chocolate from every coffeeshop in our town. So what better special holiday treat to bake than a hot chocolate inspired cake? I have been making dump cakes for years because they are so easy and so good. We decided to put a fun spin on this dump cake using ingredients that we picked up from our local Dollar General store. Save on your holiday essentials from Nestle at Dollar General!

What You Need:

1 package (3.4 oz) chocolate-flavor instant pudding

1 1/2 cups milk

1 box chocolate cake mix

1 cup NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Morsels semisweet chocolate chips

1 1/2 cups chopped caramels

4 cups miniature marshmallows

2 teaspoons NESTLÉ® Hot Cocoa mix

What You Do:

In a large bowl, whisk dry pudding and milk for 2 minutes.

Stir in chocolate cake mix and 2 cups of miniature marshmallows.

Spread batter in bottom of 13×9 pan that has been coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle Nestle Toll House chocolate chips evenly on top.

Then scatter chopped caramels. We cut our caramels in half because we like big chewy chunks but chopping them into smaller pieces creates a more even distribution of caramel.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350°F. Put the rest of the marshmallows on top of the cake straight out of the oven. Sprinkle the top with Nestle hot cocoa mix.

If you would like a drizzle, (my family likes it without) pour chocolate chips into a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until chocolate is fully melted. Using a spoon, drizzle chocolate over cooled cake.

If you want to cut your cake into squares, allow it to cool for about an hour. We like to scoop ours out warm. Yum!

We couldn’t help but grab a couple of the Nestle Confections Stand Up Bags of candy while we were at the Dollar General (they make great stocking stuffers!)
