I love summer cookouts, get-togethers, and barbecues! I wanted to put together a diy gift basket that would be perfect to bring along to all of those summer parties and gatherings so I headed to Giant Eagle for supplies!
Nothing says summer like an ice cold Coca-Cola™ and since there are 1,000 new “Share an Ice Cold Coke” names, including last names, the bottles are a unique way to personalize the gift basket. Grab the names of your friends and surprise them with their own names!
To begin my “perfect summer” gift basket, I chose a trendy galvanized tub as the container for all the goodies. Because I wanted to see all of the fun things inside, especially the names on the bottles, I built the bottom up using recycled crumpled grocery bags and covered that with paper basket filler. A red, white, and blue theme is ideal for all of the upcoming summer festivities, so I kept that in mind while choosing items to fill up my basket. I tied a red satin ribbon around the tub for a pop of color. A little sliver of clear tape on the front and back helped to secure the ribbon in place.
I filled a glass jar with all the yummy supplies to make s’mores. I stacked the chocolate and graham crackers in an alternating pattern all the way to the top and then filled the rest of the space with marshmallows. Just be sure to do this on the day of your event. Otherwise the graham crackers will absorb moisture from the marshmallows and end up soggy. You could place your ingredients into separate baggies and then into the jar to keep them fresh if they will need to be kept for awhile.
I included a few metal roasting sticks as well. I wanted them to stand up for height in my basket, so I placed a strip of clear tape over the handles to secure them to the tub.
The next item was added to help keep the bugs away from the festivities. I found a cute little blue pail citronella candle with a lid.
For a bit of fun (in case there are kids at the party or just kids at heart), I added a couple of bubble wands.
Who doesn’t love bubbles?
Last but not least, I included the Coca-Cola™ and Coca-Cola Zero™ bottles with the names of the recipients of the gift basket.
I am going to make a basket just like this one for my own July 4th celebration and throw in some glow-in-the-dark favors and mini flags. It would be easy to personalize it further by tossing in your host’s favorite snacks to go along with the fun new Coca-Cola bottles.
