My son was just 17 months old when I brought home my newborn daughter. I was changing her diaper 10-14 times a day and changing him 6-8 times a day on average. That’s 16-22 diaper changes a day and oh my, that’s a lot of diapers!

They were so adorable!

Though my kids are pre-teens now, I remember those diaper days clearly and the birth of my new nephew is also a strong reminder that diapers are such an important part of life in those early days. I decided to create a “new baby diaper changing basket” for my brand new little nephew.

There are endless choices when it comes to choosing diapers but purchasing Huggies from Meijer feels great because I know I am not only getting the baby in my life diapers but helping to make sure all babies get the diapers they need. For every pack of Huggies purchased at Meijer through December 23, Huggies and Meijer will donate a day’s worth of diapers and Meijer will donate $1 to the National Diaper Bank Network! In September, the National Diaper Bank Network and founding sponsor Huggies announced a study, Diaper Need and Its Impact on U.S. Families, revealing that one-in-three U.S. families (36%) continue to struggle with diaper need, or struggle to provide enough diapers needed to keep their baby or toddler clean, dry, and healthy. Roughly three-in-four (73%) feel they’re not being good parents when their children are left too long in a dirty diaper, while one third of households in need experience feeling stressed or overwhelmed by diapering always or often. Of families in diaper need, three-in-five parents (57%) miss work or school due to a lack of sufficient diapers required by childcare, day care or early education programs to care for a baby or toddler. As a result, parents experiencing diaper need missed an average of four days of work or school in the past month.

My heart breaks at the idea that there are families struggling and babies not getting the necessities needed to thrive like clean, fresh diapers.

As the founding sponsor of the National Diaper Bank Network since 2011, Huggies through its No Baby Unhugged program has provided ongoing support for the organization and has donated more than 200 million diapers and baby wipes, including critical donations during times of crisis, to those in diaper need.

For my fast-growing little newborn nephew, I felt good choosing Huggies Snug & Dry diapers. They feature four layers to absorb moisture quickly and offers up to 12 hours of protection for more quality time with baby. These diapers have a wetness indicator that lets parents know when it’s time for a diaper change. Plus the Mickey Mouse design is SO cute!

My kids were definitely active babies so the Huggies Little Movers would have been my choice for them once they reached size 3. These diapers feature the Moving Baby System with a contoured shape and Double Grip Strips that hold the diaper in place during active play. They provide a comfortable fit designed to move with baby.

I also grabbed some Huggies Simply Clean wipes and disposable diaper pads for changing on-the-go to add to my gift basket.

Once the items are unpackaged, they can go back into the basket to create a perfect travel diaper-changing kit that could even go into the car.
