About 2 years ago my mom had a stroke and now she struggles with memory loss and confusion. She has always been a very independent woman, but I am finding that she needs my help and care more than she ever has. She has had to give up driving and so it is our new family tradition to go out for breakfast every Saturday morning and then take her shopping. It has become something we anticipate and enjoy.

I am happy to be able to make purchases for her that can make her daily routine easier. She and I feel uncomfortable with the idea of her getting into the shower when she is home alone and I can’t always be there to help. She loves these Disposable Adult Washcloths from our local Sam’s Club. They are strong but also soft and mild on her skin. She can easily freshen up with them in between showers.

They are easy to locate in the club near the Pharmacy.

Buying in bulk when possible is financially a big help, and I am glad to be a Sam’s Club member. Sam’s Club even has a Family Caregiving Site where I found out that they offer a variety of health and wellness services. I also read some really helpful tips for caregivers there.

We are fortunate enough not to be dealing with incontinence, but there are so many Member’s Mark premium quality products for caregiving needs.

I noticed that the box of 156 Member’s Mark Maximum Long Pads are about $17 less than the nearly identical product next to it. So I picked a box of those too and plan to donate them to a friend that works as a professional caregiver.

I am still learning what it takes to play more of caregiver role but I take it very seriously.  Treasuring and enjoying the time I have with my mom has become such an important part of my life. She is coming to stay with me for a few days so that we can celebrate the holidays together, so I have put together a little gift basket to welcome her into my home.

First, I purchased a plastic basket in a bright cheerful red and tied a simple bow around it. She likes to keep things that she may need close to her and visible. This basket will be useful for that after she has used up the contents. Next, I added some word searches because she enjoys them and they are a good brain boosting activity.

Then, I thought of some small comfort items that she might like. I put in a pair of super cute Christmas socks, some peppermint scented body lotion, a couple of fun holiday-themed lip balms, and a pack of the Member’s Mark Disposable Washcloths.

We drink a lot of hot chocolate during the holiday season in this house, so I added a holiday mug of her very own and a few of my single serve peppermint hot chocolate jars with candy canes.

I am excited to share some of the same Christmas traditions with her and my children that she began with me as a child.

Member’s Mark products from Sam’s Club make caregiving easier so I can focus on having fun with my loved one!
