My face is really DRY right now. This happens every winter. But my skin is also so sensitive that I can’t use anything on it or I have some kind of reaction with redness and patchy dryness that is worse than before. The only moisturizing product I can use is organic extra virgin coconut oil and have I used it pretty much exclusively for about 8 years. Read more about the health benefits of coconut oil.
I have a dear friend who loves honey for skin care as much as I love coconut oil and these recipes incorporate raw honey too. The benefits of honey for skin care.
I mixed up a sugar lip scrub (stuffy nose + mouth breathing = wrecked lips). I definitely need something a little more gentle for my overall face and so my face cleanser uses baking soda as the exfoliant.
Let’s start with the lip scrub.
What You Need:
1 tsp organic extra virgin coconut oil
1 tsp raw honey
2 tsp sugar (I used regular sugar here but have used brown sugar and it works as well)
Place all of the ingredients in a small container.
Mix mix mix.
If you don’t use all of the scrub you can keep it in a small air tight container and use it another time.
Be sure to wet your lips with warm water and then use your fingertips to gently message your lips with the scrub. Try not to eat it all because it is so yummy!
Next up is the cleanser.
What You Need:
Mix it up in a small container.
Wet face with warm water. Massage the cleanser over your face in gentle circles being sure not to pull downward on your skin. Rinse well and pat dry. Follow up with a little plain coconut oil as moisturizer if you like.
Only use these scrubs once a week or so to avoid damage.
Your skin will feel so soft!
